To mark his first Barclays Premier League goal of the season, Mario Balotelli celebrated in a way only he could – by having the words of Genghis Khan inscribed on his torso.
The Manchester City striker, who has been desperately out of sorts for his club this season, will hope the new tattoo helps him rediscover his form.
‘I am the punishment of God,’ reads the artwork.‘If you had not committed great sins, God would not have sent a punishment like me upon you.’
The £24million striker was on target in his side’s 2-0 victory at Wigan on Wednesday night. It was only Balotelli’s third strike this term and his first since netting for City in their Champions League draw with Borussia Dortmund in October.
Despite his poor form for City, Balotelli impressed for Italy at this summer’s European Championships and has been shortlisted for for the FIFAPro World XI. The Italian joined City team-mates Joe Hart, Vincent Kompany, Yaya Toure, David Silva and Sergio Aguero on the list with the final XI revealed in January
