After what seems like an eon, Daddy Showkey is now back in the studio cooking up a new album project.
Since his last album ‘Take Five’ in 2007, the artiste whose real name is John Odafe Asiemo has been off the track and in recent times not much has been heard from the self-acclaimed King of A.J (Ajegunle) City.
He tells NET: ‘I have been busy with a lot of projects but by the grace of God, I’m now back to my music and I would be releasing the first single from the project very soon. After the singles, the album will follow immediately’.
Daddy Showkey, who broke into the music scene in the early 90s doing the popular music and dance
called galala released his first solo album in ‘The Name Daddy Showkey’ in 1994 with the hit song ‘Welcome Daddy Showkey’. Other subsequent hits include; ‘Ghetto Soldier’ and ‘Dyna’
Regarded as one of the most successful musicians from the ghetto, the multiple award winner was crowned the Best New Artist in Nigeria in 1995 (FAME Awards), amongst several other awards; gaining recognition both locally and internationally.
