Instagram Disables Twitter Picture Integration

Instagram, the Facebook-owned photo sharing app, has disabled the feature that allows Twitter to properly display its photos, in a sign of growing tensions between the two platforms.
Although Instagram photos can still be shared on Twitter, they no longer display correctly because the company has disabled its integration with Twitter cards, the feature that ensures media content is displayed directly in the Twitter timeline.
Instagram photos now appear too large for the space provided on Twitter and are cropped as a result.
In a status update on its website, Twitter said: “Users are experiencing issues with viewing Instagram photos on Twitter. This is due to Instagram disabling its Twitter cards integration, and as a result, photos are being displayed using a pre-cards experience.”
The New York Times and others report that Instagram CEO Kevin Systrom confirmed that the company has removed the option to send pictures to Twitter and that Instagram plans to cut off the ability to embed pictures on Twitter.
